With our Fast Tracking a Skilled Workforce (FTSW) initiative, we are excited to offer new Crosslinks employees the opportunity to undertake a nationally-recognised qualification in a relevant field at no cost.
This unique program among disability support service providers in Perth is part of our strategy to provide attractive career pathways to values-driven individuals and help boost the local disability workforce.
With the federal government predicting that an additional 83,000 workers will be needed by 2024, Crosslinks CEO Dawn McAleenan says the need for increased disability support is already apparent.
“The disability support sector is one of Australia’s fastest growing sectors, being driven by an increase in NDIS participants.
“Implementing a program like this not only provides clear career pathways for disability support workers, but it also benefits NDIS participants and the broader industry by creating the right foundation to deliver higher quality care,” says Dawn.
Thanks to funding provided through the Department of Communities’ Sector Transition Fund (administered by National Disability Services), Crosslinks is able to offer employees the opportunity to undertake Certificate III, IV and Diploma courses in Community Services and Certificate III courses in both Aged Care and Disability.
Dawn says the initiative provides a unique opportunity for disability support workers to expand their skills, which they’ll continue to benefit from throughout their careers.
“Part of building a strong care sector workforce is about investing in people and ensuring we are empowering workers with a variety of backgrounds and experience to build long-lasting careers in the sector,” she says.
For Crosslinks employee Aimee McDonald the opportunity to earn a formal qualification is invaluable.
“As a disability support worker, I have been able to build on my current training and skills by undertaking this qualification. It has given me increased confidence in my abilities and allowed me to gain new knowledge which will benefit my clients both now and in the future,” Aimee says.
Crosslinks has partnered with training providers iinduct and Bradford Institute of Advanced Education, as well as regional support service providers GIFSA and Midwest Community Living Association, to deliver this valuable program.
